There are two entrances to the fort one from Ghatghar village Junnar Darvaza and other from Naneghat side – known as Konkan Darvaza. Few other remnants are water cisterns and plinths. The carved storages are wonderful examples of skill of artisans of that era.
The height of the fort is 1145 meters and the climb from base is about 400 meters. The natural cliffs of more or less 150 meters provide natural protection to the fort. There are many signs of glorious past. The entrances carved out in stone indicate that the fort belongs to Satvaahan era. Later, it was under Bahmani and Nizam rule subsequently. The last Nizam- Murtuza was abducted and was kept here. In 1636 Shri Shahaji Raje rescued Murtuza and took him to Pemgiri fort. However Mughals trapped Shri Shahaji Raje and Murtaza was handed over to Mughals and that was the end of Nijam rule.
In 1818 British captured most of the forts and Jeevdhan was no exception & was destroyed to an extent.
