Rajgad to Torna - A challenging range Trek, A pristine nature trail, an adventure for strong willed.

Rajgad the fort that was capital to Shri Shiv Chhatrapati's kingdom for around 25 years. Rajgad is one grand fortress, consisting of three sub - fortresses and a Citadel. There are several entrances to the fort, we would be hiking via Pal darwaja, the main entrance of the fort. The Padmavati Maachi houses a Temple of Padmavati devi and few water cisterns. It also provides options for staying for trekkers at hut. The Suvela Maachi is a branch of mountain that extends towards East and has 3 bastions, it narrows towards end and has a nedhe - needle hole - a natural hole in rock wall. In marathi, it is known as Hatti Prastar. The another maachi known as Sanjeevani is about 2 and half kilometers long and also has 3 bastions. Sanjeevani Maachi also houses the Alu Darwaza, one of the entrances of Rajgad. And we would be exiting from this entrance.

Torna another important fort in Pune region. One of the tallest mountains within the region. Fondly known as "Eagles' nest" Torna stands tall at 1400 mtrs ASL. Historically, the fort will always be known for one of those first forts conquered by Shri Shiv Chhatrapati. He also named it as "Prachandgad". There are several entrances to this fort. And the fort houses quiet a few temples along with several remanants of old buildings. We would be entering the fort near Bhagat Darwaja at Radtondi Bastion and will be exiting via Bini Darwaja towards velha. A range connects the two forts of Rajgad and Torna. We would be trekking this range and shall see to it that we can conquer ourselves. Are you joining?
