What is Trekking?

Trekking means a journey to be undertaken on foot in areas where motorized transport is generally not available. Trekking always refers to walking on trails; it does not entail cross-country scrambling. Trekking is not mountaineering but just days of walking. Unlike hiking which can be very strenuous, trekking is only for pleasure and exercise, although at times it can certainly challenge one’s fitness.

What is Mountaineering?

Wikipedia defines mountaineering as “Mountaineering or mountain climbing is the sport, hobby or profession of hiking, skiing, and climbing mountains. While mountaineering began as attempts to reach the highest point of unclimbed big mountains it has branched into specializations that address different aspects of the mountain and consists of three areas: rock-craft, snow-craft and skiing, depending on whether the route chosen is over rock, snow or ice. All require experience, athletic ability, and technical knowledge to maintain safety.”

What is Rappelling?

Wikipedia defines Rappelling as, “rappelling, is the controlled descent down a rock face using a rope. Climbers use this technique when a cliff or slope is too steep and/or dangerous to descend without protection. Many climbers use this technique to protect established anchors from damage. Rope access technicians also use this as a method to access difficult-to-reach areas from above for various industrial applications like maintenance, construction, inspection and welding. Rescue teams are also known for using this method as a way to access injured or stranded victims.”

What is Rock Climbing?

Rock climbing is an activity in which participants climb up, down or across natural rock formations or artificial rock walls.
