Overview
This is one of the best treks of Sahyadris and is a must do for every trekker. This was an ancient trade route and one ascents about 1400 meters. This trek is truly a test of one’s will power and endurance. Chandragad is a fort near Poladpur. Very little history is known about the fort, in 1656 the fort was under Chandrarao More’s rule and Shri Shiv Chhatrapati conquered it during Javali conquest and in 1818 the British captured the fort. There are two temples on the fort and few other dilapidated ruins have the mark of history.
The trek route includes ascent from Dhavale village to Chandragad fort and further to Bahirichi Ghumati and then further to Arthur’s seat. The trek lasts for about 10 to 11 hours and mostly passes through the thick forests of Javali. There aren’t any water sources between Dhavale village to Bahirichi Ghumati which is more than half of the trek distance thus this can be called as toughest range trek. Zenith odysseys will be taking this challenge on 29th of April 2018. Are you joining?
