The history behind the name "Hampi or Hampe" dates back when Pampa ( the other name of Goddess Parvathi ) set to seek Lord Shiva. Pampa was roughly translated as Hampa in Kannada. It was this place where Lord Shiva was won by Goddess Parvathi hence the place was called as Hampe or Hampi. Hampi is located in Eastern-central of Karnataka. Its 13 kms from Hospeti.

Hampi was later became the capital of Vijayanagar Empire and remained their capital for 2 centuries before it was destructed by the Delhi Sultanates. Hampi is declared as an UNESCO site for it glorious monuments but now found in ruins. The city Hampi was the second richest city in the world after Beijing, China. Its said that the trading of diamonds and precious stones was part of this richest city's culture during Vijayanagar empire's rule.

Places( Hindu Shrines) to visit during this Hampi trip are: Virupaksha Temple, Vittala Temple complex ( includes Stone Chariot), Achyutaraya, Lakshminarasimha temple, Balakrishna temple, Hazara Ram temple, Kadalekalu Ganesha temple, Ugra Narasimha statue and Monolithic Bull Statue. Other Attractions at Hampi: Stone doors, Rock climbing, Coracle crossings, Elephant stables and Sule bazaar, Archaeological museum and stepped square water tank also called as Queen's bath.
