Ratangad

Overview

Ratangad is a fort in Bhandardara region. River Pravara originates from this fort. Fondly known as Jewel of Maharashtra, Ratangad stands tall at 1297 mtrs. There are few ruins on the fort apart from entrances and water cisterns.

The eye of the needle or Nedhe is one of the top attractions of this fort. There is also a bastion - Chilakhati Buruj on the fort which looks over the valley. During late October Sonaki flowers cover the entire fort.

The base village of Ratangad is Ratanwadi. The Hemadpanthi temple of Amruteshwar is a classic example of ancient architecture.
